Symptom: Noise may be generated from the laser unit. Cause: Laser unit motor. Countermeasure: There are currently 2 styles of laser units installed in the models listed above. The new style laser unit was installed from April production in Japan and from May production in China. The problem exists in the old style laser unit. A new motor has been developed to eliminate the noise in the old style unit. This new motor can not be used in the new style laser unit. The components in the old and new laser units are not compatible. There is a serial number printed on the laser unit to distinguish between old and new styles. The serial number can be viewed by following the steps below: 1. Open the side door unit. 2. Open the front exterior cover. 3. Remove the DV unit and DR unit. 4. You can view the serial number on the laser unit by looking through the opening created from opening the side door. The serial number is printed on the right side of the laser unit. Please view the chart below to distinguish between the old laser unit and new laser unit.
