SB Number: SB 2FZ-009 Creation Date: 08/12/2006 Subject: Model: NOTE: installing firmware KM-C2520/C3225/C3232 Service Bulletin KMIS Service Team, Kyocera Mita Europe 7791 / SB 2FZ-009 Please note the following when downloading (changing) firmware in the KM-C2520/C3225/C3232 machines. This information is not mentioned in the Service Manual so you are advised to inform your engineers for future reference. NOTE When changing the firmware in the KM-C2520/3225/3232, after inserting the CF card; turn ON the main switch while pressing the “Job Accounting” and “Interrupt” keys at the same time. In normal operation after the main switch is turned ON the KM-C2520/C3225/C3232 loads each firmware from the printer board and it can recognize CF only once the printer board is stabilized. In other words, it cannot recognize the CF until the printer, including the Engine, is stable. This also means that if the machine cannot be stabilized (*), a firmware change cannot be done. However, by turning ON the power while pressing the “Job Accounting” and the “Interrupt” key at the same time, the CF will be recognized immediately and downloading can start without waiting for the machine to stabilize. It will take about 30 seconds for the actual downloading screen to switch to the screen in which “Firmware downloading….” Is displayed. Please make sure that you do not turn the main power OFF during that time. Additionally, please do not turn the power off during each firmware download. Especially when turning the power OFF during the printer firmware download, please understand that you may not be able to be performed the download again. Should you wish to upgrade the firmware without turning the machine on completely (bringing the fuser up to working temperature etc.) because the machine has a failure or it is new and not yet placed at the customer, please follow these instructions: Open the front cover, place the CF card and then swith the main power ON whilst holding down the “Job Accounting” and the “Interrupt” key. Please make sure that you unplug the main power cord when inserting and removing the CF card (which contains the new firmware).
